Minto Pastoral Company is a myriad of operations, incorporating by owned land and leased properties.

Leasing property is pivotal to Minto Pastoral's success.  Leasing has enabled us to achieve better economies of scale over the majority of aspects of the business.

Running the farm is "full on" and the system can only work with a good crew on board.  We are fortunate to have a committed team of ever-capable men and women who treat each task and property as their own - with respect, care and responsibility.
Our Mansfield properties offer our farming operation a good balance of warm hill country and heavier carrying flats which hang on later in the spring. Our rainfall is 750mm or 28 inches (mostly in winter).

We have undertaken an extensive pasture renovation programme over the last ten years. This has included spreading lime at 1 tonne to the acre and building up our phosphorous levels by spreading up to 220 kg of Single Super to the hectare.

This year stock numbers are somewhere around 50,000 breeding ewes.

Australian Phalaris, Victorian Perennial Ryegrass and Porto Cocksfoot along with Sub Clover have been sown both by conventional seed drill and also by helicopter in the steep hill country.

We are planning on running up to 22 DSE (Dry Sheep Equivalents) to the hectare and with fine tuning our pasture management, this and more is achievable.

Our Big Aim is to not only grow lots of grass, but more importantly to be able to eat it all especially in spring when the growth here is colossal.
